Spooky Spider Ornament with KC

I HATE spiders!!  But as much as I hate them, I really can't stand the sound of squishing them.  I have been known to trap them under a glass or something until I can convince someone else in the house to kill them.  So for a creepy little Halloween decoration, I have encased this little guy - web and all!

For this project you will need:
From Art Glitter:  Ultra Fine Opaque Glitters - #79 - Black, #299 - Celery and #314 - Dew Berry, and,   of course, Designer Dries Clear Adhesive (DDCA)
From Globe Craft Memories:  2 Clear Globes/bubbles and  2 oval frames from DIY Portrait ornament Kit.
Other supplies:  ATC from Clear Scraps Acrylic, Spider Web Stamp.  Purple Stazon Ink, Black Ribbon, 4 Ribbon Sections from Want2Scrap - Fleur de Lis, Black ribbon for hanger. 2 Plastic spiders from dollar store Halloween decorations.  (if you can't find plain spiders, you can cut the ring part off 2 spider rings)
Use an old paintbrush to paint DDCA on the spiders

Sprinkle the spiders with Black Glitter while the glue is still wet.  Set aside to dry.

Stamp the spider web in the center of the acrylic ATC card using Stazon Ink.

While the ink is still wet, sprinkle with Dew Berry Glitter.  Let the ink dry completely before brushing excess glitter off.

Lay one of the Globe Craft frames on the acrylic so that the web is centered.  Use a Sharpie to trace outside the frame on the acrylic and then trim off the excess corners.

Brush one side of the frame with DDCA

Using a small spoon sprinkle Dew Berry glitter around the inside of the frame.  Tap off the excess.  Then cover the rest of the frame with Celery Glitter.  Repeat on the other frame.

Use DDCA to glue one spider to the center of the web.

Glue the frames to the Globes.  Glue one of the frames over the spider & web.

Once both halves have dried, glue them together - sandwiching black ribbon at the top to create a loop for hanging.  Trim the 4 sections of the Fleur de Lis ribbon.  Glue one at the top of the ornament and position one at the back so that the tops meet.

Glue two more at the bottom.

Glue the second spider at the top as if he is trying to free his buddy.

I find spiders just a little less creepy when they are covered in glitter!  (the fact that they are plastic helps too)

Globecraft Memories Earrings and Vintage Glass Glitter

Globecraft Memories makes it so easy to use their products I hardly had to think about this one!
I started out with their Butterfly Earrings Set and applied their Metallic Copper Cool-Set Enameling Gel on the backside of the butterflies. This set is small so I just spread the Enamel around with my finger then let dry.
Then I decorated the front sides with Art Glitter Fine Vintage Glass Glitter and Glass Beads applied with Designer Dries Clear Adhesive. I just love the look of the Glass Glitter, but I usually don't use it with jewelry, except...
Globecraft Memories has a great sealant, Glastique Gloss that seals in the color and makes the glass glitter 'safe' to wear! Add some beads and string them together for a fast and easy pair of blingrings!

See how the back side look just as great as the front? I love it! Enjoy! -emm

October Fun with Globecraft and Art Glitter

It's October, so I am in a Halloween mood!  This time, I am working on a collaboration between Art Glitter and Globecraft Memories.  It is an involved project, so let's hop in!

MATERIALS
Book (I used Regis and Kathie Lee Cookbook I found at a second hand store--who knew?)
Enough imitation leather to cover book, front and back
8" by 10" Muslin Fabric
Xyron Creatopia
Xyron Fabric Adhesive
Sizzix Tim Holtz Hardware Findings Die
One Sheet Heavy Kraft Cardstock
Die Cut Machine
Silhouette Machine
Silhouette Machine Clean Cut Fabric Interfacing
Globecraft Memories Ornament Globe
Globecraft Memories Large Flower Shaped Piccolo
Globecraft Memories Key Shaped Piccolo
Globecraft Memories Keyhole Shaped Piccolo
Globecraft Memories Enamel Powder Adhesive
Globecraft Memories Piccolo Powders in Vintage Silver
Globecraft Memories Piccolo Powders in Siam Silver
Globecraft Memories Cool-Set Enameling Gel in Metallic Copper
Art Glitter Dries Clear Fabric Adhesive with Fine Tip
Art Glitter Ultrafine Opaque 357 Wintergreen
Art Glitter Ultrafine Transparent 104 Spring Mint
Art Glitter Ultrafine Transparent 94 Key Lime
Art Glitter Microfine Opaque 512 Bahaman Blue
Art Glitter  Fantasy Film Dandelion
Art Glitter Fantasy Fiber Briarwood
Want2Scrap Clear Gems
Brads
Heat Gun
Iron
Big Bite
Scissors
Craft Knife
Large Stencil Brush
2" 22 Gauge Wire
Tape Roller

DIRECTIONS:
1)  Cut Globecraft Ornament roughly in half to create cauldron.  I used just a little more than a half for this.  Also, be sure to cut the chipboard frame as well.
2)  Cover the plastic half with Cool-Set Enamel.  Use it directly from the bottle and swirl it a little as you apply to create the "hammered" look.  Set aside to dry.

3)  Cut fake leather fabric about 1" larger than the book both vertically and horizontally.  You will be cutting one piece for the whole thing, so be sure to open the book and measure it all the way around before you cut.
4)  Place the chipboard frame piece from direction one where you would like the cauldron.  Use the craft knife to cut around the inside of the frame.
5)  Iron the Clean Cut Fabric Interfacing on muslin.
6)  In Silhouette Studio Program, create the potions word and steam section and cut.  I used a premade steam portion and welded on the word with the font Argo.  This step can be skipped if you have another way to cut out the muslin--either by hand or another machine.
7)  Set the cut out muslin in position and iron on.
8)  Add some Want2Scrap gems for "bubbles" on the muslin steam and the cauldron edge.
9)  Use your Art Glitter Fabric Adhesive to add the Microfine Glitter to the word potion.  Set aside to dry.
10)  Use the Art Glitter Fabric Adhesive to create the "steam" colors.  I used the Wintergreen first to create the details, then Spring Mint for the highlights and finally Key Lime for the pop of color.  Wait a few moments for each color to dry and tap off in between colors.  Do not brush.  The colors here do not have to dry in between, because it looks better if they blend a little.
11)  Repeat step 10 on the edge of the cauldron.

12)  Use your die cut machine and Sizzix die to cut four straps from the heavy cardstock.  Cut 2 more pieces of the scrap to wrap around the binding.
13)  Cut Globecraft Flower into quarters.  You will have one full and two half petals in each part.  They are the corner pieces.
14)  Using the Globecraft Embossing Fluid and your heat gun, emboss the straps. the eatra heavy cardstock and all the remaining Globecraft Memories Elements EXCEPT the key with Vintage Silver Embossing Powder.
15)  Emboss the key with Siam Silver Embossing Powder.  We switched the embossing powder because this one is more detailed, which suits the detailed key better.
16)  Make sure that all the glue is dry before you proceed.  Send the leather through the Xyron Creatopia with the fabric adhesive.
17)  Before removing from the background paper, carefully pry open the oval cut you made in step 4.  Insert the cauldron, placing the edging under the cut leather.
18)  Carefully remove leather from background and cover the book.  Use the extra fabric to wrap under the edges.
19)  Use the Art Glitter Fabric Adhesives to attach all of the embossed pieces except the key.
20)  Use Big Bite to create holes for brads.
21)  Attach brads, leaving one just a little loose to attach the key.
22)  Cut, crinkle and glue the Fantasy Film to look like "fire" under the cauldron.
23)  Glue Fantasy Fiber into the cauldron to look like an "explosion".
24)  Use wire to attach the key from a brad.
I realize that this project is a little intense, but it can be modified in any way that you like.  It is your book, so enjoy its creation.  I loved making it so much, that I have created a second one, pictured here.

If you want to see how I did the second one, check out my blog at www.rememberinglifesmoments.blogspot.com.  See you later, glitter on!

Glittering Ghosts

After I made 3 garlands a few weeks ago, I decided to add another little touch to the grouping...
Little glittered ghosts! Here's what I used:
  1. Frosted vellum paper
  2. Helmar Vellum Adhesive Spray
  3. Art Institute Ultrafine Transparent Glitter - #85 Crystal
  4. Masking tape
  5. Thin white sheer ribbon
  6. Large piece of paper to spray on
First I cut the ghosts out of vellum, punched a hole in the top of each, then I cut eyes and the "Boo" shapes out of masking tape and stuck them on the ghosts. I then lightly taped the ghosts with double stick tape to a large piece of paper.
Next... do this outside! You are going to be using spray adhesive and making a mess. I put a pretty substantial layer of spray glue on the ghosts and poured glitter over that...
Then I poured even more glitter on them all.
After I let the dry for a while, I removed the masking tape carefully to reveal my subtle non-glittered eyes and "boo"s.
I put ribbon through the hole in the top of the ghost and slowly started adding them to my other garlands.
Then I added all of the ghosts...
until it was packed! These would also be fun as gift tags, hanging in chandeliers or as little ornaments on a tree!
Come see more fun on my  Blog!

Happy Halloween With Art Glitter and Globe Craft Memories

Welcome! It's Linda again! Thanks for joining us in this Art Glitter/Globecraft Memories Cross Promotion! I'm sharing a cute little project that takes no time at all to create and it can be made in any theme to fit the occasion! This is so cute tied onto a gift bag or used as a home decor accent hanging from a cabinet knob. Materials used for this project are: Art Glitter Butterscotch Ultrafine Opaque 350 Globecraft Memories Piccolo Decorative Accents: Happy Halloween Harvest HP03 Ranger 2" Memory Frame Ranger 2" Clear Glass Black Acrylic Paint Xyron 2.5" Create-a-Sticker Manilla Tag 6" strip of black ribbon Type-written or stamped BOO on white card stock 2" square of Halloween-style scrapbook paper 2" square of plastic packaging or packing tape.

I started with Globecraft Memories Piccolo Decorative Accents Happy Halloween Harvest HP03 set. These cute little accents are made from a quality grade compressed bookboard. This will be sturdier than standard chipboard and hold up well to paint, inks and embossing. I chose to take the quick-and-easy way out and simply painted mine with black acrylic paint. After they dried I brushed them with two coats of Glossy Glastique. This acts as a sealer and gives the pieces a glossy finish. I set them aside to dry. Lay the 2" clear glass on the manilla tag and trace around it with a pencil. Cut inside the lines. Run this square through the Xyron 2.5" Create-a-Sticker to coat the entire piece with adhesive. Sprinkle generously with the Art Glitter Butterscotch. Tap off excess and set aside. Cut each letter separately for the word BOO and ink all edges with black ink. Pop up with dimensional foam tape.
r To assemble, place the scrapbook paper on the square of plastic packaging or packing tape (this protects the back side) with the pretty paper showing out (through the packaging or tape). Layer the glittered paper on top of the backside of the pretty paper. Test placement of painted pieces then glue in place with Designer Dries Clear. Add BOO. Set the entire piece inside the Memory Frame and close up. Add a pretty black ribbon to the top and enjoy! Hop on over to my blog to see another glittery project!

Calling All Cell Phones - For a Make Over

I always see those super cute sparkly cases for ipod, cell phones, e-readers, you name it, and I always want one, but I can never find it in the color I want, or the sparkle I want.

So I took matters into my own hands.

I recently got a new ipod (hand me down), and it came with a simple black rubber case on it.

I have been saving my Art Glitter Dazzlers Dance Floor for a special occasion. This was the perfect occasion.

Here is what the case started out looking like.

Here is the list of products used.

- Art Glitter D2 Dance Floor Funky Dazzlers
- Art Glitter Designer Dries Clear
- Ranger Inkssentials Glossy Accents
- paintbrush
- ipod case

I know that glitter and electronics may not be the best to mix together, so please be careful when doing any glitter and glue near electronics.

I first started by applying the Designer Dries Clear Adhesive to the back of my case. I started with an outline, and then ended up filling in the entire space I wanted to cover. I did use a thick coat, only because the funky dazzlers have some larger chunks of fun pieces like moons, slices, and circles, along with some fine glitter.

I then poured on the glitter. You can either shake off the excess or leave it until the case is dry.  If the glue is too thick it will run.

Once it was completely dry I took a dry paintbrush and brushed off excess glitter on the case that was not adhered to the Designer Dries Clear Adhesive.

I then took my Glossy Accents and covered the glitter and the rest of the case.

I let it dry overnight.

I flipped it over, and made a thin layer of adhesive around the front edge of the case. Sprinkle on glitter, let it dry, and added Glossy Accents again. (I used Glossy Accents to seal the glitter in with a super high gloss look)

When it was all dry, I popped in my ipod and have my own personal case!

You can use any color of glitter you want to use, and make it your own. The best thing about the color I chose is that it is SUPER holographic looking! Tons of colors bounce off of it from the light, and the shapes add a fun flair to it. You could also use some of the ultrafine opaque hologram colors, or microfine opaque. Even using and ultrafine opaque, or transparent colors would work too! The combinations are endless!

I hope you enjoyed this fun project that you could use to personalize almost anything you own.

Be sure to stop by my blog for more glittery fun!

Bangle and Butterflies

One of my favorite things about Fall is Monarch Butterflies.  For the last few years, my daughter and I have collected Monarch caterpillars and kept them until they emerged as beautiful butterflies.  It is really a wonderful miracle to watch and I highly recommend it!  In honor of these beautiful creatures I have created several projects this month with a butterfly theme.  I am thrilled to share this Glittered Butterfly Bangle project with you.

For this project I used:  Bangle blank from DIY Bangles, Copper metallic acrylic paint, Distressed Inks - Forest Moss & Bundled Sage,  Palette Ink - Noir, Happily Grateful Stamps from Red Rubber Designs, Art Glitter Designer Dries Clear Adhesive, Art Glitter Ultra Fine Opaque Gliter - #56 Pumpkin, Acrylic sealer.

Start by painting the inside of the bangle with copper acrylic paint.

Use a dauber or make-up sponge to sponge a mix of distressed ink on the outside of the bangle.

Use the same distressed inks to stamp leaves randomly around the bangle.

Use Black Palette ink to stamp butterflies around the bracelet in a random pattern.

Using a fine tip on the DDCA, fill the blank areas of the butterfly wings with adhesive.

Coat the adhesive with Ultrafine Glitter

Continue with the adhesive and glitter until all of the butterflies have been glittered.

Once the adhesive is dry, finish with a coat of acrylic sealer.

Please visit my blog for more glitter projects!

Thanks!
