Art Glitter & National Craft Month

I started with a frame from a hobby store and this is how it turned out! What will you do during National Craft Month?

1. I sanded the frame to get the rough areas smooth and more uniform then I painted the frame with metallic acrylic paints and let dry.
2. While the paint was drying I started looking through my paper collection to see what struck my fancy. 
3. I used the wonderful NEW Mixed Media Adhesive by my friend and creative genius Pam Carriker.  This is the best adhesive I have found to work in mixed media.  I started piecing the paper to the frame making sure to cover the areas with the adhesive in between layers.  I LOVE the layered look it created!  Let Dry.
4. Do the same for the back of the frame. As you can see I do a lot of tearing.  Once the piece is completely dry trim the edges.

5. I decided with the bird in the corner on the front that I needed flowing stencils for the design so I chose LJ896 - Flourish & LG713 Small Flourish from Dreamweaver Stencils!  I did the large flourish first in DGWP Glossy White Embossing Paste then used glitter from Art Institutesprinkled over the image while the paste was still wet.  

6. I SHOULD have waited until the corner was dry before attempting to apply paste to the smaller flourish, but I am instant gratification so applied the same paste to the stencil in two areas VERY carefully and sprinkled with two colors of glitter!

7.  I did wipe off the excess paste that sneaked through the stencil on to the frame and set it aside to dry.
8. Once completely dry I sprayed with a coat of clear Krylon paint.

Glitter Fun With Resin

I have been having the best time using the bezels from Spellbinders with the matching dies!  I also am loving all things resin.  I have used Enviro Tex for years and now we also have ICE Resin!  To be honest...I LOVE THEM BOTH.   What I REALLY love is the way the VINTAGE GLASS GLITTER looks under the resin!

I start with any bezel and then cut sticky paper with my Mixed Media machine and put in the base of the Bezel.  I then cover it with Glass Glitter.  I shake of the excess and put in whatever I want and finish off with resin! 

I will finish off the pieces when I get time but wow this is fun!

What was used:
Dreamweaver Stencil LJ 906 Maple branch
Gold & Copper Embossing Paste
Worldwin Papers
Art Glitter #810 Clear  Small Transparent  Glass Beads

This card was created by our Design Team Lead, Kristi Parker Van Doren

This card was created by using a blend of embossing paste from Dreamweaver Stencils.  While the paste was still wet, the glass beads were added.  As a final accent BLING from Want 2 Scrap was added.  All of this was layered on various card stock from Worldwin Papers.

A Closer Look:  You can see the texture of the beads and in the paper.

Art Glitter and Authentique Paper Team up!

&

We are teaming up to bring you some wonderful and creative projects.  Seasons: Summer and Pride collections will be used from Authentique and lots of fun Art Glitter.  Here are a couple of projects from our Design Team Lead Kristi Parker Van Doren using Seasons: Summer! 

 Kristi used some of the fun papers to do a two page layout of a fun family gathering.  She got some fun laser cut wooden words from a hobby store and covered them with Designer Dries Clear Adhesive.  Kristi then used a variety of microfine/ultrafine opaque glitters.  She mounted the photos of coordinating WorldWin card stock.

Just Keep Swimming

Hello all, Kristi here and I am sharing another fun card that was done stamping on acetate and then glittered from the back.  It seems when I get in a mood I really get in a mood!  I did several at once and I love this one. 

Supplies:

Stamp: Peddlers Pack

Ink: Staz-On by Tsukineko

Adhesive: Designer Dries Clear Adhesive-Art Glitter with Fine Metal Tip

Various Glitter: Art Glitter (507 Black Wing-microfine opaque, 25 Cornflower-ultrafine opaque,85 Crystal-ultrafine transparent,55-Hot Lava - ultrafine opaque,280 Lime Rind-ultrafine opaque, 44 Kelly-ultrafine opaque ,33 Baby Blue-ultrafine opaque, 68 Suede ultrafine opaque, 110 Taupe-ultrafine opaque, 72 Pink Champagne-ultrafine opaque)

 Using the metal tip I apply glue to the back of the stamped image.

 

I usually go from Darkest Glitter to the lightest so did the black first.

 

 Then I just keep adding the adhesive and the colors.

 

Keep layering on the glue and the glitter.

 

 Love the sparkle here through the acetate.

 Adding some final touches.

 I love this one....makes me think of Finding Nemo!

 I finished this off by layering on some cool looking paper and WorldWin Cardstock.

When in doubt...just keep swimming.

Pretty In Pink Birdhouse

Hello, Kristi again!  I did a cool birdhouse a couple of days ago and since I had everything out I did another one.  This time instead of colors from nature I used Pink and Purple!

I covered the roof in sections with Designer Dries Clear Adhesive.  I then applied  # 7 Red Rose Ultafine Opaque glitter to the roof of the house. 

 I covered the base, the perch and the trim under the roof with #115 Heather Ultrafine Opaque Glitter! Of all of the purples I just love this color.  As of this photo I was getting ready to adhere #616 Primrose Fine Glass Glitter.  It is heavier than Ultrafine but it is so pretty!

I let it all dry then took it outside to see how it looked in the tree!
