3D Art With Glitter

Also Needed:  Picture Frame, White Card Stock, Card Stock to Match Theme for Background, Favorite Spray Ink, Embossing Folder and Die Cut Machine for embossing background (optional) 

Begin by spraying a piece of card stock that is a little smaller than your picture frame using your favorite spray ink and allow it to dry.  

 Trace or draw a picture onto the paper. 

 Use the metal tip to start outlining the small areas.  Add extra detail by using different colors in the same  section. 

Flood larger areas in glue and cover them with glitter.  Allow them to dry completely.   

 

Once the entire piece is dry, place it in a frame.  You can create a background for it by adding an embossed piece of card stock to finish off the look.

 

No matter if it's a holiday or every day, a 3-D piece of artwork set on a table or hung on the wall adds a lot to the look of a room.  Create a theme or individual pieces.  It's all up to you so add new life to your décor and use some Art Glitter to dress it up!  Start creating now and give your house a new shine with the beginning of a new year!

Winter Fun

Also Needed:  Ink for stamping, card stock to make card base, white card stock, 1 sheet of patterned paper for layering onto card base, markers, dark blue/grey ink pad for inking sky line and a piece of ribbon

Begin by creating the card base and trimming a piece of patterned paper to fit onto the base.  Add the ribbon across the card.  Lay all of this aside.

Stamp the image onto the white card stock and color.  Trim it to fit the card.  Use the blue/grey ink pad upside down and beginning off the paper move in small circles gradually moving it onto the paper and into the areas needed to be shaded. 

 

 

Place the metal tip onto the bottle of Designer Dries Clear Glue and place small balls of glue onto the tassels of the squirrels hats.  Sprinkle each with glitter and allow it to sit for just a minute to get a good adherence.  Shake off the excess.  You can do this one at a time and put the colors back into their original containers or do them all at once and shake the excess into a separate container to have a glitter mix for other projects.  It's a fun way to create a mixture of colors.  



 Now, add small dots of glue onto the dotted areas of the stamped image.  Work in small sections and add the glitter to them while the glue is still wet.  Continue to cover all of them with glue and glitter.  Allow it to set and shake off the excess. 

 Still using the glue with the tip on it, add some glue to the ends of the branches and trace the lines under the toboggan.  Sprinkle glitter onto those areas and shake off the excess. 

Allow the image to dry and adhere it to the card base. 

Join these fun loving squirrels and have some sparkling fun this season.  Share the fun with someone in your thoughts and send one to him or her, too.  Everyone needs to have a little fun once in a while.

St. Patrick's Day Wreath

Today, I present a glittering St. Patrick's Day wreath.

MATERIALS:

DIRECTIONS:
1)  Remove the hanger from the ornament.
2)  Paint the ornament black.  Be sure to paint on all the edges and in the crevices.  Let dry.

3)  Paint the bottom of wreath brown.  You will need to paint a little less than half and be sure to be thorough.
4)  Paint the rest of the wreath blue.  Paint it completely once, and then lightly again.
5)  While the paint is still wet, pour the Blue Boy Glitter over the top of it.  Let dry.

6)  Organize the red, orange and yellow tulle in order.  Fold each part up a little to make the color more intense and allow room for all the colors.

7)  Place behind the ornament and flip the whole thing while holding it on.

8)  Make sure that the whole thing is on top of the pad of paper.  Then, use the staple gun to staple each color in place on the ornament.  The staples will go through the ornament and leave holes in the paper pad.

9)  Repeat steps 6-8 with green, blue, (indigo if desired) and violet.

10)  The staples may not be completely through.  You can use your finger to push it in further.
11)  Flip the project over and use the wire cutters to trim the excess metal from the staples.
12)  Use the edge of closed wire cutters to push the ends over so they are flush with the wood.

13)  Use Designer Dries Clear on the "pot" part of the ornament and cover with Black Vinyl Glitter.  The glitter will help to hide the edges of the staples.  Just use the glue right over the top of them.

14)  Glue inside the shamrock and glitter with the Dazzlers Clover Leaf.  If you miss any spot the first time, just go ahead and use the glue and glitter again over that area.

15)  Glue inside the pot and cover with the Elements.  Repeat over any parts you may have missed.  Let dry.

16)  For the clovers, place on the paper pad, face down.  Remove the backing paper.

17)  Cover in green glitter of your choice.  I used Astro Turf, Wintergreen and Ensalada.  The different color of felt clovers will give you a slightly different effect, even with the same color of glitter.  This is especially true of the transparent colors.

18)  If any shamrocks don't have enough glue on the back, feel free to use the Designer Dries Clear Fabric Adhesive to glue on the glitter.
19)  Use a Big Bite to created holes in the feet of the pot of gold and attach to the wreath with wire.

20)  Attach the shamrocks to the wreath with Designer Dries Clear Fabric Adhesive.  Now this is the hardest part--WAIT for it to DRY! 

21)  Wrap and tie the tulle around the wreath in order.  You will be creating the effect of a rainbow and creating a top to the wreath.

22)  Hang and Enjoy!

Framed with Art Glitter

I have been obsessed with canvas lately, and finding fun new ways to use them. Today I have a fun glittery project that was super fun, and super easy to make!

Supplies Used:

2 Pre-cut decorative frames
2 - 11x14 Canvases

I started with a plain pre-cut frame that I got at a craft store. I then painted it with Designer Dries Clear Adhesive, and covered it in glitter, then tapped it off.

 I did this for each of the frames each in a different color of glitter.

 

Then I adhered the frames onto the canvases and let them completely dry.

My mom helped me out with this last part and picked some super cute pictures of her grandsons (and my nephews) to put in the frames. Then hung them up in her craft room.

Choose your fabric selections and decide how large you want your piece to be. Then cut your matte board and fabric accordingly. Spray one side of the matte board with a spray adhesive and glue background fabric down with an inch of fabric overlapping matte board, flip over. As you can see I’ve started by gluing opposite sides down with DDC adhesive.

Glue other two sides down. At an angle, cut overlapping fabric corners off as shown.
Spray glue onto backside of focal fabric and center it onto your background. You’ll notice in the next shot that my edges are not perfect, but that’s okay, I’ll fix that later.

Start with your larger bling from Want 2 Scrap. These swirls finesse from Want 2 Scrap were absolutely PERFECT with my Laurel Burch fabric. And they are so easy to use. Just lay the transparent sheet of bling on top of your project to see where you want the bling to go, cut it to size, peal and place down!

I wanted to add some smaller bling that comes in individual pieces (baby bling!). To avoid going crazy I employed a sticky stick to do my detail work. Just push the end onto gem and slide off.

Push lightly in place and use a pin tip or fingernail to release gem. So much easier than going crazy trying to use your fingers! I have many other things that make me crazy so it’s nice to lesson that load.

Now I’m going to fix my edges. Unroll a stretch of Sticky Tape over your fabric edge and place sticky side down paying attention to getting your line straight. Sometimes my tape overlaps the fabric, and in a few spots there is a gap, that I will fix too!

Lay tape on opposite sides; remove red protective covering and lay tape down on other two sides. Then trim the ends to make nice perfect corners. Remove protective cover. Now you can begin to glitter! Spoon navy glitter over open tape and rub glitter into tape with finger. Tap off excess and do all sides.

Now to fix those gaps, just add a line of glue and cover with same glitter color. If you are not great at making a straight line…like all of us, dashes are a lot easier. Cover with glitter then go back and connect your dashes with more glue and glitter.

This is my Mess O Glitter! I use basket coffee filters to catch my glitter. And you see my selection of glitter is mostly Pearlescent, it works PERFECTLY with this fabric. As a matter of fact it works great with all of Laurel Burch’s bright patterns. A must have!

I glued and glittered in dot patterns that resemble the fabric and bling. I also made dots on the yellow background fabric. Fun, easy, beautiful.

You may be wondering why I'm using Designer Dries Clear and NOT Fabric Dries Clear. Easy, because if you aren't going to wash it, you don't need to use our Fabric glue.

I made another matte board slightly larger (black velvet) and ran a sharpie marker along the edges. Of course I slipped a few times and left marks on the white back side. So I sprayed it with walnut ink and a reddish spray ink. I’m quite pleased, it almost looks like wood!

Before gluing back matte board to front with E6000 I laid a ribbon loop in between. Let dry overnight weighted down. ONE LAST THING…matte boards are notorious for their corners getting banged up. Hammer down some metal corners and you’re done!
