Ornament Fun With Laura

For this post, I created a cute little ornament.  I used a couple of different clear and white glitters to create the "snowy" look.  I used a variegated, Microfine Glitter to create a vintage look on the frame. Here it is:

MATERIALS:
Art Glitter Designer Dries Clear Adhesive
Ultrafine Metal Tip
Art Glitter Fantasy Fiber in Snowflake
Art Glitter Microfine Pearlescent #533 Mini Pearl
Art Glitter Ultrafine Hologram #389 Leia
Art Glitter Microfine Opaque #518 Oak
Globecraft Memories Make Your Own Ornament
Figurine (I got a package of 3 at the Dollar Store)
Cotton Ball
Tim Holtz Distress Paint in Tarnished Brass
Manual Die Cut Machine
Tim Holtz Snowflake Embossing Folder
Big Bite
Brad (I used a white star shaped brad)
Jump Rings
Connie Crystal
May Arts Ribbon
Craft Knife

DIRECTIONS:
1)  Use the fine metal tip on the Designer Dries Clear Glue to add "snow" edging on the figurine with Pearlescent Glitter.  The pearlescent is the most opaque white, which is important for the snow to show up.
2)  Pull cotton ball apart a little and adhere to the bottom of the globe with glue.  Adhere figurine on the top.
3)  Place some of the Fantasy Fiber around the figurine to look like snow that has been kicked up.

4)  Paint all three of the ornament frames with the Distress Paint.  Let dry.
5)  Run the two outside frames through the die cut machine with the embossing folder.
6)  Glue the edge of the globe (with the figure in it) to the interior frame.  (The one with the loop).  Let dry a little.
7)  Add some of the Leia glitter in the dome.  Initially, this was supposed to act as a snow globe, but with the static, some of the glitter stuck to the sides of the dome, while the rest found its way down the side of the cotton ball.  After some consideration, I decided that I liked it this way.  The glitter in the cotton ball makes the "snow" appear prettier.  The glitter on the sides of the dome look like a cross between snow and frost.  Although I used holographic glitter, I think it lent the project a vintage look.

8)  Glue the other side of the globe onto the other side of the center piece.  Let dry.
9)  Meanwhile, put a little Designer Dries Clear on your finger and rub lightly over the top of the frame.  Make sure to use the side that has the snowflakes indented.  Work in a very small section at a time.
10)  Pour the Oak Glitter over the top of the glue and tap off the excess.  Let dry.
11)  Repeat steps 9 and 10 with the other frame.
12)  Glue the frames to the outside of the domes.  Let dry.

13)  Use the Big Bite to attach a brad to the bottom of the ornament.
14)  Attach the crystal using jump rings.
15)  Attach a jump ring to the top.
16)  Tie a ribbon around the top to create the hanger.
17)  Tie a ribbon around the bottom.

Blinged Out Altered Photo Frame

It always seems like we have picture frame pieces laying around because as crafters we have somehow used parts of it for a project or somehow we have knocked the frame over and have broken it and don't know what to do with the rest of the frame.  This is a great way to create your own altered frame with those leftover pieces.  The fabulous products from Art Glitter combined with the wonderful products from Want 2 Scrap can turn any piece into a frame that you'll be proud to use to show off your photos.

Supplies Needed:

  From Art Glitter:

           Glitter- http://www.artglitter.com/retail/Rartglitter.html
              Challis Ultrafine Opaque Hologram Glitter
              Crystal Ultrafine Transparent Glitter
              Confetti Vintage Glass Glitter

        Also from Art Glitter:
               Sticky Tape-http://www.artglitter.com/retail/Raccessories.htm
               Spoons Man! Spoons-http://www.artglitter.com/retail/Raccessories.htm
               Designer Dries Clear Glue-http://www.artglitter.com/retail/Radhesives.htm

From Want 2 Scrap:
              Chipboard Shapes Style B
              Rhinestones-Amber

Additional Items Needed:

Black Acrylic Paint, Paintbrush, Photo, Patterned Paper, Back cardboard piece of a picture frame, sea sponge or a sponge that will leave a pattern, card stock that matches your project to create a photo mat

Begin by trimming the pattern paper to the size of the picture frame backing and adhere them together.

Run strips of the Sticky Tape down each side of the frame and sprinkle some of the Confetti Vintage Glass Glitter down on the sides after removing the red protective covering from the tape.  Shake off excess glitter back into the bottle and lay this piece aside.

After painting the chipboard shapes and allowing them to dry, use the sponge to lightly dip it into the glue.  Dab the sponge off a little and then dab it onto the chipboard shape.
Sprinkle the Challis Ultrafine Opaque Hologram glitter over the wet glue and shake off the excess.  Allow all of the pieces to dry.

Add a few of the amber rhinestones to the swirls on the frame.  Cut a circle from card stock that fits inside the frame.  Here the circle measured 6" around.  Adhere the circle onto the frame and then adhere the photo that you have chosen to use.  Use the sponge to add some more glue around the picture and sprinkle some Crystal Ultrafine Transparent glitter onto the wet glue.  Shake off the excess and allow it to dry.

Form the frame around the picture using the chipboard pieces and the Designer Dries Clear Glue.  Add some more rhinestones to cover where the pieces meet.  Add some of the smaller rhinestones in between those pieces to finish off the frame.

Turn any frame pieces from blah to wow! with the great products from Art Glitter and Want 2 Scrap!  Create a vintage frame like this one or a modern art one using the products you choose.  Here's a start to your new frame use the promo code August W2S20  for 20% off any $25 order or more.

Penny Black & Art Glitter

This month at Art Glitter, we have been fortunate enough to play with some absolutely beautiful Penny Black Stamps.  Here is what I did with my favorite Penny Black stamp:

I have listed the directions and materials that I used.  As long as you work from the finest (Microfine) glitter to the coarsest you are planning on using, you can create with any colors.  Also, be sure to use opaque glitters if you want to completely cover the main color. If you plan on changing the base color, you should change the ink color to one that matches, as the bonding powder does not completely cover the area.
MATERIALS:
Penny Black Slapstick/Cling Stamp 40-193 Wistful
Penny Black Simply the Best Clear Stamp Set
Acrylic Block to Fit Stamp
Stampee Crafts Stuck on You Bonding Powder Adhesive
Adirondack Denim Pigment Ink
Heat Gun
Card Stock
Patterned Paper
Adhesive
May Arts Ribbon

DIRECTIONS:
1)  Stamp on white card stock, pour bonding powder on when wet, and heat set.
2)  Pour the Microfine powder on immediately and shake off excess.  This will create a shimmering blue image that will look a lot like the picture below.
 3)  Use the image of the stamp to add the sparkling details.  Just follow the gorgeous lines with the fine tip on the Designer Dries Clear and cover with the glitter of your choice.  I started with the silver and the gold swirls.
4)  Then, add the small green leaves with the Ultrafine Lime Rind.
5)  Next, color the butterflies with the various colors of Hologram Glitter.
6)  Add the flower colors.  I chose neon pink for this.
7)  Finally, color the larger leaves.  I used the Vintage Glass Glitter.  Let it dry completely.
8)  Assemble the card.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Come check out my blog at www.rememberinglifesmoments.blogspot.com any time! Until the next time that I see you, keep glittering!

I began buy cutting out my patterned paper to fit the gift bag.

Then I glittered all around the edges of the cut patterned paper with Art Glitter Ultra Fine
Opaque and Transparent glitters in Goldenrod, Lush Pink, Periwinkle and Fresh Green.
Next I proceeded to stamp and decorate my images.
Finally I added a bit of twine and sequins as eyes on the little owls and added the tissue paper and the Fantasy Film to give the gift bag a little shine.

More Glitter and Wonderland Girls

Hey every one here I am with the second half of the Wonderland Girls, these cute stamps are a Limited addition from The Greeting Farm. I just knew these cards would be great with Art Glitter.

Who can resist these girls ?
Art Glitter Supply List:
333 Red Zone (Ultrafine Opaque Hologram)
138 Red Dwarf (Ultrafine Opaque Hologram)
252 Red Planet (Chunky Opaque Hologram)
716 Simba ( Microfine Transparent)
742 Rock Moss (Microfine Transparent)
521 Cayman (Microfine Opaque)
513 Mediterranean (Microfine Opaque)
514 Bavarian Forest (Microfine Opaque)
Dries Clear Adhesive
Ultrafine Metal Tip
Mini Glitter spoons
Sticky Paper A2 card size

Queen Bean was stamped and then colored with Copic Markers and then cut out. The Background Hearts were cut out of Sticky paper using Nestibilities Scalloped Heart, I used the three smallest sizes.
I removed the resist paper and glittered each heart. I used Red Zone for the largest heart, Red Planet for the medium heart and Red Dwarf for the smallest heart. The small heart on the crown was done with dries clear adhesive and Simba. Layer everything together and pop the Queen onto the card.

Alice Bean was also colored with Copic Markers and cut out. The background was done using Sticky Paper already cut to A2 size, I then cut it to 33/4 X 5. Using extra resist paper I punched  flowers 2 large and 3 small. Removing the resist paper from the cut down sticky paper I placed the small flowers don first, then the larger flowers overlapping on some of the small flowers or hanging off the edge. once these were placed I sprinkled Rock Moss over the entire background removed the excess and burnished the glitter, I then removed the large flowers and using a small glitter spoon placed Cayman in the areas, removed the excess and burnished the glitter. I then did the small flowers using Mediterranean in the same manner as above. When all the background is done add stems using Adhesive Dries Clear and Ultrafine Metal Tip then sprinkling with Bavarian Forest glitter.  All that's left is to layer and embellish.

Do you need an idea for a bridal shower or baby shower favors?  How about making a favor box cake, embellished with Art Glitter?  It would be a fabulous one of a kind center piece for the food table made with love!  You could fill these boxes with candy favors.

I have chosen to embellish the cake flowers and the butterflies with Art Glitter, In addition you could also cover all of the white frosting pieces with white crystal glitter to look like sugar and add extra sparkle.

Instructions for individual boxes:
Box Cutting:

1.  For the bottom layer, cut 18 box bases in the Close to My Heart Artiste cake box with a width of 9 inches, using your patterned paper.
2.  For the middle layer,  cut 18 box bases in the Close to My Heart Artiste cake box with a width of 9 inches, using your patterned paper.
3.  For the top layer,  cut 18 box bases in the Close to My Heart Artiste cake box with a width of 9 inches, using your patterned paper.
4.  For the bottom layer first row, cut nine box tops in the standard Close to My Heart Artiste cartridge to match the box base in size 9 inch patterned paper.
5.  For the bottom layer second row, cut nine box tops with a welded rectangle at the end of the box top, in white card stock to match the 9 inch box base.
6.  Line the Heartfelt Creations Die up with the score line on the box top and run the top through the die cut machine.

7.  For the middle layer, cut 18 box bases with a width of 7 inches in patterned paper in the patterned paper.
8.  For the middle layer bottom row,  cut 9 box tops in the standard Close to My Heart Artiste cartridge to match the box base in size 7 inch patterned paper.
9.  For the middle layer, second row, cut nine box tops with a welded rectangle at the end of the box top, in white card stock to match the 7 inch box base.
10.  For the top layer first row, cut nine box tops in the standard Close to My Heart Artiste cartridge to match the box base in size 9 inch patterned paper.
11.  For the top layer second row, cut nine box tops with a welded rectangle at the end of the box top, in white card stock to match the 9 inch box base.

So, when you are finished with your cutting you should have the following:
18 quantity box bases in patterned paper 9 inch wide
18 quantity box bases in patterned paper 7 inch wide
18 quantity box bases in patterned paper 5 inch wide
9 quantity box tops in patterned paper to match 9 inch box base
9 quantity box tops in patterned paper to match 7 inch box base
9 quantity box tops in patterned paper to match 5 inch box base
9 quantity box tops in white paper to match 9 inch box base
9 quantity box tops in white paper to match 7 inch box base
9 quantity box tops in white paper to match 5 inch box base

Box Assembly Instructions:
1.  Using the score marks made with the cutter, score your box bases and fold along score lines.
2.  Using the score marks made with the cutter, score the box tops and fold along score lines.
3.  Glue the box bases together using tabs.
4.  Glue the box tops together using tabs.  To glue the detailed cut of the lacy die side, trim the tabs down to show die detail and glue closed with a glue pen.
5.  Place matching box tops on the first row of the top cake layer and glue the 9 pieces of the layer together.
6.  Place white box tops on the top row of the top cake layer and glue the 9 pieces of the layer together.
7.  Then glue the top row on top of the bottom row of the top layer.  This layer is too small for holding favors and is just for show.  By gluing them together, the cake will be more stable and decorations of flowers are easier to place.
8.  Repeat steps 1-4 for the middle cake layer pieces being sure to not glue the finished boxes together.
9.  Repeat steps 1-4 for the bottom cake layer pieces being sure to not glue the finished boxes together.
When finished assembling your boxes, you should have nine boxes for each cake layer like the two boxes below, for a total of 18 boxes per layer (one row same color top, one layer white top).
Overall Instructions:
1.  Determine the number of favor boxes you need for guests.  This will determine the size cake you need.
2.  Cut a test cake box for each layer of the cake that you wish to make.  For my cake I needed 30-35 boxes.  This cake box takes 9 boxes to make a single layer of cake.  I cut two rows of boxes for the bottom layer of cake.  And two rows for the middle layer of cake.  That makes 36 boxes so far.  I also, wanted a third layer so I cut two rows of boxes for the top layer for a better design.  These boxes are too small for favors but make the cake!
3.  Once you have determined the layers and boxes you need, select your paper.  I used white card stock for  my frosting and K &Company Ancestry paper for the bottom of the boxes.  This is a great time to use a paper pad so that all your boxes coordinate.
2.  Use a digital cutter such as a Cricut or Silhouette to cut your cake boxes.  If you use a digital cutter, you can vary the size of boxes for each layer of the cake.   I used the Close to My Heart Cricut Artiste cartridge and the Cricut Craft Room software to custom design my cake box top.  I wanted to use a Heartfelt Creations metal die to cut the side of my cake boxes, so I welded on a rectangle.    I cut half in white for the frosting and half in the box color for the second level in each layer.  For the middle cake layer, I used the largest Heartfelt Creations (HC) die and simply cut off the top portion of the die cut, to show the inner half circle.
3.  Score and glue box lids.  I cut half in white for the frosting and half in the box color for the second level in each layer.  To glue the fine detail of the HC die, use a glue pen.
3.  Cut, score and glue box bases.
4.  Assemble top layer of boxes into an entire cake layer and glue all the boxes together.  Since this layer is for show, it will be more stable if glued together, and embellishing the top will be easier.
5.  Place your favors inside the bottom two layers before assembling to cake to add stability.  I am filling this will a roll of mints that will have paper around them and have a tag that says the bride and groom's names and "Mint to be!"
6.  Begin stacking cake with the bottom layer and add stability to the cake by pinning an organza ribbon around the bottom.
7.  Add second row and again wrap with an organza ribbon for stability.
8.  Assemble all layers of the cake.
9.  To embellish butterflies with Art Glitter, use the Art Glitter Dries Clear Adhesive with the Ultra Fine Metal Tip to highlight portions of the butterfly and apply your choice of glitter color.  I also used several of the Art Glitter Printed Butterflies.  I love that these are printed on both sides so you can use them on a 3 dimensional project and glitter both sides.  I stamped some butterflies, and printed some I found online. Use glitter colors in the same family as your paper packs and add some darker shades for drama!
10.  Cut rolled roses, using Sizzix Die and the large rose on the top of the cake is cut with the Close to My Heart Artiste Cricut Cartridge.  I like to use a low temp glue gun for these flowers. Once the flowers are made add more Dries Clear Adhesive and fill the centers with pearls, buttons and Art Glitter Gala Glitz and let dry.

For the large rose, I covered a shank button with paper using the I-top tool and cover the paper with Art Glitter using the AG Dries Clear adhesive, allow to dry.  Add embellishments and allow to dry.
11.  Adhere butterflies and flowers to the cake.  Use the odd number rule for your butterflies and have fun varying their colors size and patterns.

This project is perfect for a bridal shower or baby shower. You could do a great "Over The Hill" cake or even a fun anniversary cake.  Thanks for stopping by the Art Glitter Blog today and checking out my cake project.

My Heart Belongs in Tennessee Photo Art

Hello everyone today I am  excited about debuting my first Art Glitter project:

I had a lot of fun creating this project. I have noticed that creating your state has been pretty popular over the past couple of months and crafters are incorporating it into their home décor or scrap pages
so I decided to make  this to hang up in our home. The heart represents where we live in Tennessee.

Supplies: First you will need to GOOGLE an image of your state and shrink it to fit a  Picture Frame of your choice. I choose to use a 11x14 with a 8x10 photo mat, scissors, cardstock , pen, art glitter stamp pad, a small heart of some sort , Designer Dries Clear Adhesive, Ultrafine Opaque Glitter # 291 Fire Engine, Ultrafine Opaque Glitter # 83 Silver,  and Ultrafine Opaque Hologram Glitter #131 Black Hole

Step 1: Trace and cut the state image out of a piece of cardstock and  ink it with your
art glitter stamp pad

Step 2: Now that you have your state cut out it is time to have some fun. Use you your
Designer Dries Clear Adhesive and spread out onto your state. I did mine in thirds. Using the Ultrafine Opaque # 83 Silver cover your entire state.

Step 4: Outline your state with Ultrafine Opaque Hologram Glitter #131 Black Hole

Step 5: Now take your photo mat and add Designer Dries Clear Adhesive and coat it with

Step 6: Trace out your map with a black pen to make it pop. I added
alphas to spell out my state of Tennessee. Using a red glitter heart in the middle.

Now that you have everything complete place it in the frame under your photo mat
and there you have a beautiful piece of artwork to display in your home
of that special place where you live.
